Ohhhh veryy cool! I just found one case of 1846, apparently involving the person being acquitted for receiving stolen goods - first case of its kind. The policeman involved was John Pawson who was my GGGG Grandfather :-) The Pawson family later removed to Banks Peninsula, Akaroa and Duvauchelles Bay way where Pawsons Valley is still named for them.Cheers and thanks for such an interesting link!Sandy
Ohhh and look...my 3x great aunt Mary Ann PAWSON's husband William BROWN charged with bigamy! I knew that already but very cool to read! She later married Martin JACOBSEN. She was the daughter of John that i mentioned who was the policeman :-) Her photo is on this page of my website http://sarndra.com/pawalb.htmlCheers again!
Glad this is of interest, Sandy -- and I hope poor Mary had a better life with Martin Jacobsen. Wonderful that you have so many Pawson family images.
