He was a seaman with the NZSC for many years including during the war, finishing in the early fifties (around 53/54). His uniform has an impressive array of medals including the pacific star, the Atlantic star and the North African medal. We were 2nd class but the crew were wonderful we had a fabulous time. I remember hitting a storm just before we arrived at the panama canal and being sooo sick. But it was wonderful to be a part of the history of the rangitiki.
