Heritage on billboards II

In October last year, I came across four heritage billboards at Henderson Train Station.

Now, there's four new ones. Click to enlarge the thumbnails.

  1. AHHHH Lucy Cranwell :-) Did you see our wee exhibition on her when you came to the museum? My partners dad knew her well ;-)

    Very cool pics!

  3. The late Waitakere City (now part of Auckland Council) did take heritage very seriously, and actively promoted it as part of their city's sense of place. Auckland City weren't all that slow in the heritage appreciation game, either -- though preserving buildings and sites is always problematic, when private property rights come into it. But Henderson's billboards were a brilliant idea.

  4. Are these billboards still in place? Would love to see the Tom Skeates one.

  5. Hi Jacqui,

Apparently, the billboards are still up (I don't know if they've changed them or not, though). I've just called Auckland Council, and a helpful staffer at the Henderson office said she can see them from her office window.
