Newmarket traffic control box art

My friends Bill & Barbara Ellis sent this shot through this afternoon -- looks like the box is at the north-western corner of Mortimer Pass and Broadway. I'll have to take a closer look next time I'm in the neighbourhood.

  1. LOL i pass this everyday on the way to work :-) i'll have to take note now too!

I love that sculptue on the footpath not far from this i think it is. One side looks like a hand holding a ball and the otherside looks like the profile of a face...very clever :D

  2. This painting of traffic light control boxes should be picked up in Australia. Instead we have them tagged. In many areas, NZ is one step ahead of us.

  3. Brisbane seems to be where the trend is prevalent in Australia, Andrew -- see these examples.

  4. I hold out hope of guerrilla mural artists attacking the traffic control boxes here in Melb, thereby starting a trend of murals which (most) graffiti artists/taggers respect and leave untouched.

  5. See what you mean. Why has it never caught on here?

  6. I hope it does, so next time I visit Melbourne I see lots of it around. Melbourne and Sydney has some great street art pieces, though. I was impressed as anything last time I visited.
